Texas Program

The Texas program continues to mature as our part-time staff and more than 100 volunteers become even more proficient and efficient in providing services to our patients. We cosistently operate five mobile clinics in partnership with four local churches and one community center. Three of the five clinics are located in rural areas.

Between September 17, 2007, the date of our first mobile clinic, and March 31, 2009, we provided free healthcare through 3,286 patient visits and 4,404 free prescription medications. Diabetes continues to be one of the most prevalent problems facing our patients, and we have been recognized for our work in this area with two grants totaling $100,000.

We develop support by offering "Coffee With M.O.M." clinic tours twice a month.  This is the opportunity to "come and see" the impact that quality healthcare has not only on our patients and their families, but the ecnomic impact on the community at large.

Our Coffee with M.O.M tours offer a unique opportunity for the public to spend an hour at one of our clinics to better understand the work of Mission of Mercy in Texas.

During the tour, attendees get to hear personal testimonies of our volunteers and our organization's vision for the future and as a result, leave with a better understanding of the scope and impact of our mission.

The first Mission of Mercy Invitational Golf Tournament scored in ways beyond words! Not only was our projected revenue met, but one player even hit a hole-in-one resulting in a $10,000 prize! This particular golfer's mother volunteers at one of our clinic sites. Amazing!

We were fortunate to have Champions Tour Player Phil Blackmar as our guest professional. He played first drives with each team. The Texas A&M Women's Golf Team also participated by making putts for golfer's requesting their expert approach. The live auction that followed the tournament raised enough money to help us claim a $5,000 challenge grant offered by a local philanthropic organization!

Watch for details or phone Patty Clark at 361/446/-0202 for information about our "Mercy in the Morning" community breakfast to be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009.  Ask how you can promote our mission by becoming a Table Captain and inviting your friends to hear the story!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US! On September 17, the Texas program will celebrate is second anniversary of providing care to local residents. Although fund-raising has become more difficult in these challenging times, we continue to receive support from foundations, corporations and individuals. Our hope is that we will be able to grow our base of supporters and expand our services. Prayer and volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We continually recruit for volunteer doctors, nurses and lay people, as we ask for continual prayer for our patients and their families.

Here in Corpus Christi, we literally are the Body of Christ, and consider it our privilege to be his hands and feet in service.
